Lovely ride in the forest today with just Steve Marlow, Mark Gavin (on his first WVCC off road ride) and me. Matthew and Andy Beswick couldn’t make it as they were on course clearing duty for next Saturday’s cyclocross at Greenbank.

Off-road on a perfect autumn day!

Off-road on a perfect autumn day!

Fantastic autumn colours on a bright, crisp morning. We set off up Old Pale as a warm-up before the “bomb hole” loop and heading back down to ride most of the main perimeter route. Conditions were very rideable if a little boggy in places.  Quite technically challenging with plenty of slippery tree roots to negotiate.

What a lovely bridge.

Mark managed well and said he enjoyed it! Many of the singletrack sections were new to him – we try to keep away from the main firetracks as the singletrack is much more fun. Someone has been out constructing some new bridges making many of the trails even better – that’s Mark in the photo about to negotiate one of them.
