Hi guys,

after my puncture today and the fact I have not checked my tyre pressures for weeks 😳 which I don't think has helped my performance over the last few weeks, I just thought it was me getting slower!!!, I have now got the pressure at 100 psi, Is this ok?

Thanks Les

note to self always check tyre pressures before leaving home 😆

Should check pressures before every ride. Get a track pump with a gauge on it. I run 120 on the rear and 10% less in the front. Maybe a little more when racing in the dry and lower a little when wet. Having the right pressure will stop snake bite punctures. This is when the tube gets trapped between the tyre and rim.

Thanks for that Jules yep have been and got a good pump with gauge on it. Well they say you learn from experience and at least I can fix my own punctures with a few swear words here and there and a few broken nails 😆

Les, how did you get on fixing your puncture in that rain? Good on you if you managed OK. I find it hard enough anyway and today my fingers would have been numb with cold...

It was hard and I swore a lot and it was the first time I had changed a tube on this bike and luckily it was the front tyre and not the back. once I had changed it and thought about that fact that I only brought one tube with me I thought I better head in and my back tyre only had 40 psi in it when I got home. I was cold after standing around for 20 mins swearing alot but I am strong willed as you will find out. I think it was adrenaline that helped me and the thought I had to do it !!! 😮 and would not have wanted to have held anyone else up to help me 🙂 I do have fab water proof gloves that did keep my hands toasty before and after and was prepared with my latex gloves as I was expecting a puncture some time soon, have promised bike I will now start looking after it 😀

I think I need to say a big sorry to any passers by that heard me swearing, there was one guy walking his dog that came to me saying are you ok love, and I said a very polite yes I am fine and under my breath I said to myself do I look ok with a bike wheel between my legs and three broken tyre levers on the floor. 😆

El my hands are really sore today 😥

Les.. pump them up till they are hard, check with your thumb every ride, [you need to let a little out in the rain and wet as you dont want to fall off when cornering] 😀
