Before i start, please accept my apologies for errors, ommisions and inventions.

Confusing weather yesterday morning meant that attire at the Legion ranged from shorts and short sleeves to winter legs and arms and overshoes. I was glad i went for the former as, after not too long the fine drizzle cleared and although the clouds didn't part, it certainly was warm. There were around 13 set off on the long run including me, Jules, Carol, Rob D, Jon C, Tim, Chris B, Chris G, Rich M, and a new chap that rode well and stayed with us easily, (many apologies to everyone i forgot or just don't know the names of, i'm rubbish i know).

A steady pace was set out through Whitegate, Oulton and Beeston. Although he was chomping at the bit, we had reign Jules in from heading off into the hills, convincing him to keep to flattish ground. In any case we all kept together with much interesting chatter (mostly from Carol) and we went the very long way around to the glorious cafe at Holt, only punctuated by a brief puncture stop for Rich.

After, in my case, a full carvery and large piece of triple chocolate cake (not a good idea; it all revisited several times on the way home), a healthy but not silly pace was set on the fairly direct route home. As happens on the way back, people peel off and go their separate ways until there is a hard core ready to fight it out for the inevitable sprint. Quite how this explains how Carol and I managed to get on the front on the draggy road up to Tarporley i don't know but we set a good tempo which kept the inevitable attacks at bay until quite late. I think that sprint was won by Chis B?

I do believe a fine day was had by all, thanks go to Jules for leading the run. I got home with around 75 miles on the clock and just a little more fitness.

See you all soon.

Great summary John however I must add I don't talk to myself and I do stop to draw breath occasionally, oh and to give someone else a chance to get a word in!!!! 😆 Anyway you'd all think there was something wrong if I was quiet!!! 😛
I had a fab day thanks. As always the company was excellent along with the banter!!
Food at the cafe was good especially the half of Johns chocolate cake I ate!! Although I must also share with you the fact that it did make a reappearance just as we got into Tattenhall 😮
Thanks to Jules for leading and for towing me through Hartford so I could beat my PB on strava 30 to the lights which I did by over 20 seconds!!
Good luck to those of you racing next week! See you soon 🙂

OK Carol I do accept that i possibly had something to do with the chatting...
We need to remember and perhaps remind others in the future that triple chocolate cake is not a good cafe stop choice. It was a really good run yesterday, the sort where, as soon as i got home i wished i was out on my bike.

Great blog John 😀 Didn't enjoy cleaning the bike today, some of those lanes were a bit dirty 🙁

Here is my garmin data from the ride.
