Seeing as I now have weekends free I was hoping to ease myself up to a club run.

No where near ready for this one!

Short run for me, I think.

Ah it won't be that bad Alex - a plod there and back with just some lumpy bits around the cafe. Everyone will regroup at the top of each hill and Loggerheads cafe is much better than Holt's!

What distance are we looking at?

Not long been back from holiday so I need to get my legs again I suppose.

Deep end and all that...

Realistically it will be about 100 miles round trip.

Again this is why we have a mix of rides. They don't all need to be hilly and tough.

Alex would have come to Holt I'd of thought.

I think there are still a few TBA's in the calendar that can be used for a loggerheads trip, or maybe plan it so there is a bit more notice. Think Jules is right, some folks may have been planning their weekend based on it being an easier ride and/or a shorter ride in terms of time.

sounds like its all on now thought, but something to bear in mind next time.

I acknowledge I have been guilty of changing the plan once (maybe twice) before though 🙁

my thoughts were to go to loggerheads cos the weather forecast was meant to be good and has stayed pretty much the same. either way i dont mind however can we put in a long route to holt? the route that me jules and alan took to malpas would be alright but will probably end up being around 50 miles to the cafe but can then just cut straight back? so would probably be around 80 miles in total?

Might I suggest gents (and ladies), that to a) save confusion, and b) to fill in a long run TBA for those who want it, to have Loggerheads as a long run next week instead (9th September - as short run going to the TLI at Worleston), or on 7th October - where there is another TBA for both long and short runs?

That would seem like a sensible method to keep the planned club runs, and encourage those (like Kris) who are up for leading the long runs.

Cheers Ady,

I'll lead on Sunday and do a long run out to Holt.

I hope I haven't thrown a spanner in the works!

What's the distance for the suggested long run?

9th september may not be a good one cos there will be a few people that miss that one for the nationals. i may put my self forward to lead a run for the 9th just to the mills or something for those who dont wish to go to the nationals. but pencil loggerheads in for october? and alex really depends on which way we go and how direct the route is.

Sounds like(ish) a plan(ish)!! 🙂

Yes, it's a good point about the Nationals. The long run can stay as a TBA, as there may not be enough interest for a long 'un on that day, either because people are riding them(!) or want to go and watch and have a shorter run there.

I'll pencil in Loggerheads for October anyway for now, which will fill in a nice TBA slot. This can always be changed if required, and of course depending on a leader who wants to take it at the time.
