Just one Club Run today..
Its 12 months since we lost Dave Astles so as a special memorial ride I think we should ALL ride to the
ICE CREAM FARM .
Thanks All,
Al
That is a great idea and a good way to bring in Christmas together too.
Hi guys I am planning to do this ride but on my mountain bike!!! I've tried my road bike today and there's no way I'm ready to ride it but I am comfortable on my mountain bike 🙂 But don't worry if I can't keep up I'll make my own way there!! 😉 I've been focusing on this ride for the last 6 weeks so am determined to be there no matter what!! See you all in the morning 😀
Carol
If you feel the need for stabilisers you can borrow my trike to get the wheels turning again.
Hi Derek that's very kind of you. Not sure if it would help tho as I'm struggling to weight bear on the arm on drop handlebars which is why the mountain bike seems better! I could always try though. I'll have a chat with you tomorrow if you're out.
Hope to be out on 2 wheels tomorrow. You are welcome to try the trike any time.
Thanks Derek 🙂
Carol give me a shout I will ride with you 🙂 you will still be faster than me on your mountain bike. Hope you are ok 🙂
Les, nice 1 and I'm sure I won't!!!! I'm getting there slowly!! See you in the morning. 😀
Fab carol just look after me 😀 will be nice to catch up 🙂 see you in the morning
I wont be out today as i have not recovered from a heavy cold 😥 , i am gutted, was looking forward to this ride today. Good Luck Carol on your MTB Bike.
Hope you all have a great ride
It was a wonderful occasion today to see as many as 70-80 riders on the Dave Astles Memorial bike ride. As Dave always seemed to have a ready smile, it was fitting that it was such a sunny day! It was great to see Carol Robson turned up on her mountain bike, after recovering from her injuries a few weeks back, and no doubt riding off the front! Although the pace was steady, I wasn't fit enough to keep up, but I really appreciated the encouragement from Lew, Caroline, Phil and Alan. Alan and I had a long argument, because he was determined to pull me all the way to Tattenhall! Thank you, Alan! 🙂 I won eventually, and dawdled around some Delamere lanes, passing James Risk going in the opposite direction. It was lovely to see so many Weaver Valley ( and other) riders. Although I am trying to get my fitness back up on my own, it is so good to know that (as Mark Astles said at the start of the ride) there is a big cycling 'family' there to join when I am ready! 🙂
Lesley - can you send me the photos to pass onto Gina please?
I would love to read a blog from one of the 79 riders who DID make it to the Ice cream farm at a steady pace!! 🙂
It was great to be back out on a bike today and to see you all for a very special ride!!! I was so pleased I made it and I loved it although it was blooming hard work on the MTB 😮 but you all no me I love a challenge 😉 I would like to thank Ady for all the stick he gave me! I felt as though I hadn't been away at all!! Also a big thank you to Alan, Rob and Mark for making sure I was ok and generally looking out for me!! It was great to see so many riders out for Daves memorial ride and the sun shone!! Excellent 😀
Have a merry Christmas everyone and see you all soon 🙂
Well said Carol and great to see you out again 😀

We thought you'd never been away as well... 🙄 Thanks for the mud pack, I hear it's very good for my complexion.. 😉
It was a great ride out, and as per usual, an absolutely cracking turn out in Dave's memory.
Make's me very proud to be part of the club. Let's hope for a great Christmas for all. 🙂
