we definitely going to garth? as i herd that kev u had said about going somewhere else?
Not sure how that rumour started. I thought I was racing but was too late with entry. Am absolutely happy to be led to Garth in fact am looking forward to it
Cheers Kris, i really enjoyed todays run, even the ten mile climb to the cafe strangely enough 😯
90 miles on the clock, longest ever ride, think i will sleep tonight ❗ ❗ ❗
Firstly, little advice to anyone that's thinking of doing this; don't have a month off and then go out and do 100 swift, lumpy miles.
Thanks for an excellent day everyone. Because of work commitments this was the very first exercise i'd done in a month and it was a hard one to come back to. A good sized group left Hartford for the long run (about 16) and we went at a reasonable pace into the wind all the way. We lost John C and AN Other before the cafe and Kev U came to the cafe but went on from there. My legs were empty by the time we got to the hill going up to the cafe stop which meant i was dead last getting there, my pain not helped by Max insisting on going up the hill in his big ring while i was on 39 x 27. Incidentally my max HR on the hill was 192. I've no idea who was first to the cafe; i got there so late that some guys were already on second helpings. I was so in need of my beans on toast. We sat outside for lunch at what is a great cafe in a lovely spot. All too soon however we had to come away down the excellent fast and twisty hill from the cafe. At least i can still descend OK.
On the way back we mostly had a tailwind. Chris G and a couple of others peeled off somewhere near Chester (sorry about the poor recall of names) and from there for me things went from bad to worse & the last 20 miles i had to concentrate really hard on Kris's back wheel just to stay in touch. Going up a rise the group left me & it was only seeing them at the junction where they were waiting for me that that i realised that we were in Tarporley - i'd been concentrating so hard on Kris's wheel i had no idea where i was.
After leaving the group at Whitegate i allowed all pretence to drop and it took the best part of an hour to ride the 8 miles or so to home. I got home with just over 100 miles on the clock and we managed to avoid the rain all day which is a real bonus. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and gels when my legs finally gave way. See you all next week.
Its character building John!!! It was good to see you back out!!
An excellent club run today. Kris dd a great job in leading as usual and no need to carry the bike today 😉
Fabulous views from the cafe and the normal great banter 🙂
Legs are feeling it now though 😛
See you all next week 😀
great ride today kris i had 94 miles on the clock when i got home, i though about doing an extra loop to bump it up to 110 but figured i best not. still enjoyed it.
Kris if we do that run again soon i will beat you to the cafe this time! -_- how long was the climb?
Thanks for the company today everyone. It's a great run this one and I am glad the weather held up.
