In today's edition of the Northwich Guardian, the Weaver Valley Cycling Club are featured as their official Pedal Power club! Gina Bebbington lists all the benefits of joining a club, and in particular the reasons why our club is so special - 'they have proved to be a smashing bunch - very friendly, welcoming and helpful.'

When Gina was researching the piece, she rang Ann Gregory, and by co-incidence, John Horsfield, a founder member who lives in Australia, was sitting there in the Gregory's kitchen! He says 'You get to know people and widen your circle of friends with a common interest. Travelling by yourself is fine but it's not quite the same as having someone cycling alongside you.'

The paper publicises the short run to Nantwich to encourage new riders, starting out on Sunday March 24th at 10am. Gina along with Guardian photographer and Warrington Clarion rider, Nick Jones, are planning to be there on their bikes!

Gina and the Northwich Guardian are keen to invite the club to get involved in the Pedal Power Cycling Festival. One of the dates being considered is 11th May 2014. I have been involved in this initiative right from it's inception, and there is already great interest and support from people in the Borough, Town Council, local traders, local sporting organisations and local charities. If you would like to know more or get involved, then please let me know. I will be delighted to hear from you! It promises to be an event which replaces the Thundersprint, showcases Northwich, encourages families and new riders to cycle, and promotes the WVCC and local traders.

After a very successful Town Council meeting tonight, Gina Bebbington tweets:

'@GinaBebbington: Town council v supportive of exciting @PedalPowerNG plans for 2014. It involves an event. It involves Northwich town centre. That'll do4now!'

If you would like to find out more, please let me know!

Lovely article today in the Northwich Guardian about the Cheshire Classic. Mention of the history of the race, started in 1980, and it mentions Terry Veal's legacy as well as current initiatives. Andy Wood is this week's Pedal Power Ambassador! Thanks again to Gina Bebbington of the Guardian for promoting the club in her newspaper under the Pedal Power campaign! 🙂
