The cycling strategy and other related projects are currently in their mobilisation phase so we are expecting to launch the strategy in the new year.

Cycling Strategy
Timescales for this have moved slightly as we are striving to input as much information as possible from a range of partners. The final draft is expected to be confirmed by Members and partners imminently and this will be distributed to participants in the consultation process shortly. We are expecting this to be early in the new year for publication of the strategy early spring time.

A Sustrans Active Travel Officer is working with Cheshire West and Chester Council's School Travel Planner, to develop a programme of active travel events (including personalised journey planning) in schools. The offer of cycle parking provision has been made to each school/college and we are awaiting the provision of requirement/site plans and photographs so we can choose the schemes to proceed with before March.

Engineers are currently working on the redefinition of Route 5, the signage from Northwich and Kingsmead to the campus and identifying routes for improvement to create better access for walking and cycling from the surrounding areas. This will be looking at the journey from Kingsmead and Northwich initially, but will stretch to include basic improvements as identified.

Hartford Local Plan
In order to ensure that we are engaging with local residents, I am due to meet with Hartford Parish Council to discuss the project.

I spoke today at the inquiry into the Harrow Estates Plan to build 650 extra houses on the Grange Farm and The Hollies - it was a very daunting experience! I talked about safe cycling and sustainable transport! 🙂
