Hi all.

Looking for your advice and opinions here.

I am about to enter my first winter training season, and currently my entire outfit is for summer weather, so I need to go shopping.

Do you have any recommendations on:

gloves
overshoes
anything else I need

I'm worknig on the theory that as long as you keep your extremities (hands, feet, head) warm, that you're body will take care of the rest naturally?

I'm assuming that the club gear will cover things like windbreakers, lined longsleeve tops, full length bibs, etc?

Cheers!

Kris.

gloves

I use SealSkinz gloves. Not to everyone's taste, but good when it's really cold/wet

overshoes

Repel Neoprene - I've had them for years. Don't know if they're still available. They do the job.

anything else I need

I use:
A Gore Tex Bike Wear Winstopper jacket - again usually when it's pretty chilly, otherwise it's too warm.
A pair of DHB bib tights. These have been good on and off road.
Arma and leg warmers. A bit more versatile I find than a long sleeved top/tights combo. Gives you the ability to cool down if needed, and layer up after beans on toast at Two Mills.

I've used some Endura bib tights for 2 or 3 years now - the best I've ever had. They have teflon coating on the legs and a waterproof shin panel, realy toasty warm. Not all places have them now but Primera seem to do them -

these appear to have a seat insert whereas mine don't & I wear a pair of bib shorts underneath.

Also a windproof skull cap is great under your helmet, particularly if it pulls over the ears when it gets really cold.
hope this helps

Hi Kris,

In the club kit, we have winter longs/tights and windtex jackets. I can personally recommend the jacket, because it saved my life several times in -2 degrees weather last Winter. I really don't know what I would have done without it! I have also ordered for myself some Shimano winter boots and merino wool socks for this season because last year I couldn't feel my feet at all most of the time!

I'd best bring my cheque book when you get the stock in then! I'm hoping its gonna be here before next Sunday, as I've got a long ride in potentially horrible weather and I'd like to bling up on blues and yellows 🙂

Hi Kris,

We have some winter kit in stock. The new order kit is not going to be here until 11th Oct+. If you want to try any kit from stock on, just let me know to arrange a visit.

Cool! Can I pop round one evening and try it for size? And put in my order for when the other gear comes in?

Sure, Kris. I live in Hartford. Just text me when you want to come over just to check that I'm in!
