Well today was a bit different: a few of us entered the Tatton Yule Yomp, a 10k cross country run around Tatton Park. Our team comprised Tim Rutherford, Nick and Ann, Kev, me and our daughter Nicola, Jules, Jim Duffy and Bruce. Other than Bruce, with whom we hadn’t shared the plan (sorry Bruce!) we all met at the hall to discuss injuries, tell each other how badly we were going to run, and get a team photo, below (for which thanks to Jim and partner. Ann didn’t make the photo either, sorry Ann!). The course was beautiful, as was the weather, but I suspect the faster runners in our team didn’t notice – as for me, I was happy to admire the trees and the deer and say hello to the marshals who were mostly friends of Kev and mine, as the run is organised by our sort-of-running club, the “Cheshire Hash House Harriers”.
It transpires that we have some good runners in the club, and one in particular who is truly outstanding – Tim, who came sixth out of a field of 1104 (and fourth in his age group), with an excellent time of 38.25. Everyone else semed happy too: Kev came 47th (and third in his age group) with a time of 44.53, Bruce’s time was 45.11, Nick did 46.38 (ninth in his age group), Jim 47.34 and Jules 52.01. I was pleased to come ninth in my age group with 57.52 (courtesy of a generous dose of ibuprufen), Nicola broke the hour with 59.59 (how’s that for precision effort) and Ann completed the course in 1.09.33. Weaver Valley CC came second in the “non running club” team category, which is pretty neat.
Well done everyone, particularly Tim, and here’s to next year!
