The 2017 freewheel World Championships are to take place in Delamere on the 29th Jan..[date is on the calendar] it’s the last championship to be decided before the coveted trophy is awarded at the club dinner. just meet as normal for a club run.

Jim Williams who is the current holder, has been in secret training over Christmas, eating several pork pies.

The UCI technical commission has met and revised and re-issued the following guidelines for competing in this sort of event [these will be strictly applied and observers will be stationed along the course to ensure they are followed]

1 all cranks are to be secured by a toe strap [not a cable tie] or chains are to be dropped off the chainring.

2 all efforts must be made whilst in the saddle [no descending like Peter Sagan and sitting on the top tube]

3 no bunny hopping forward is allowed.

4 no weaving from side to side trying to get uphill is allowed. [are you listening John Keen?]

5. no tri-bars allowed [following a stewards inquiry last year, yeah it was the eventual winner]

6. no bricks or other heavy items to be secreted in saddle bags.

These rules will make it a fair fight for all and to give the person with the fuller figure a chance of a bit of bling….…….!
