£260 for a lick of paint and transfers ? You could have a week half board at the Pollensa Park in Puerto Pollensa , Majorca for about £20 more ! ( Some of us are going in March 2014 !)

Or for about just double the cost of respray etc you could get a brand new alloy race frame . ( including paint )

Personally I would find somewhere cheaper or strip the frame down, hook it onto your clothes line and respray it yourself with a can in the colours of your choice ! If you want hoops on the down tube then use insulation tape for masking . In previous times a paint brush would have been used .

I never had the same paint job for more than a few weeks during my earlier cash strapped youth .

Hope this information has been of some help .Do not hesitate to contact me for more info .

Fantastic right up El .A great big WELL DONE for a great show of guts and character by you and Kev in this event which I have not done but have been following since the very early `60s .

A friend of mine has done it many times since then ( Dave Norton one of the people who helped in the formation of WVCC . I think he was 3rd once ).

Your choice of race food was good El but when it is bread with jam on it is called a BUTTY !

I am sure you will be back there next year !! Well done again.

Very sorry to hear about your injury John and wish you a speedy recovery .

This issue of carrying identity on you at all times when out on the bike was also highlighted many years ago by the late Dave Ball , a club member and like Steph (K) who ran Ist Aid courses for club members , after a series of cycling mishaps to club members . No internet back then but the importance of that was highlighted in printed club news letters .
As well as identity and contact info in a pocket on your person , another recognised way and as well as , is to put your emergency contact number for the person you should call if you have a mishap , into your mobile phone contacts list under the heading ICE . ( in case (of) emergency ).

Ps I know many people know that but it is intended for those that do not !

    Hi Chris,
That`s good. Tim R has booked same dates as you .I am staying a few days longer .I have just used Stuart Hall Cycling online booking form to get my name down . Usually book with him much later but heard a rumour that there is a big demand for rooms ! Loads of the Deeside Olympic lads are going on the same dates .
    Alan

PS Anyone going at the same time as myself on a Stuart Hall Cycling trip , if you mention Weaver Valley CC , my name or both when you book with him , it will give Stuart the link to connect us .

Great photos of the last of this seasons Lower Withington evening races ( Dave Astles Memorial Races) John .( as mentioned under 28th May , where John Keen put some good photos )
Just an observation that Tony is rapidly gaining in experience and confidence by finishing 10th ( 12th in race ) in the dodgy bunch gallop in the wet with about 36 other riders of all ages as the usual 3 races per night had gone off together as one race . Only 40 riders turned up due to wet weather. In reality it was not too cold and we had a very good race.
Despite their ages I was pleased to see that the class acts of Phil Thomas and Keith Jones were able to show the younger riders how to do it as they clipped off the front on the last lap and just held on to the finish.
I really enjoyed last nights race although decided like many others that unless I could get a good run for the finish line then I would not bother to sprint as it would be too dangerous. As it was I did end up leading the sprint out or at least fully committed first and was just pipped at the line by Paul Thursfield who has done our Llanberis rides a few times. So I took 4th in the race and 1st E.

Good luck with the recovery Keith. I know it`s no consolation but regarding the cycling you are not missing much with this lousy weather. Hopefully you will be fit to go again by the time the weather warms up !

Great evening at the track. Some nippy lads in the club but also great to see so many people experiencing the track for the first time .
Thanks to yourself Dave and Caroline for organising it and to Paul West for putting us through our paces and making us suffer. Paul always does a good club session or SQT ( structured quality training )
    Thanks
