For those of you that can’t wait for the autumn to get back on the ‘cross bikes, have a look at the Morvelo City Cross in Leeds.

I’m slightly dubious about the danger of sharp corners on wet cobbles on the cross bike, but given the fact that its in June and should be dry (!), it looks like a really fun day out.

An all-day event, the racing consists of 20 minute ‘moto’ heats with the top 50% of each moto going through to the next round. There are obstacles throughout and the moto format offers separate categories for men, women and children.

Far more than just a race, Morvelo CityCross gives people a positive experience of competitive cycling, with a mix of music, stalls and stands – art, clothing, bikes, kit, glasswear – allowing riders and spectators to enjoy all elements of cycling culture.

Titch has expressed interest. Who else fancies a go?
