Hi,

Looking for some advice as I have just had two incidents recently on my commute where a camera would have come in handy.

Can anyone make any recommendations? Front or rear - which would you go for if you were to choose one?

The Fly6 appears to be good value.

Not really looked into them in detail but if I was to get one it would be the garmin virb. Kris has one and could provide more advise

the GoPro has better quality so you'd be able to see more detail however the garmin virb is more convenient and is able to give you gps location and time etc so in evidence could probably be a better bet.

I guess if its just an 'evidence' based device, then anything would do with a half decent res (wouldn't have to be full 1080p), and capacity to film your entire commute. Get a couple of cheap Muvi cams and you could do front and rear!!

Kris Zentek has got a Garmin Virb. I think there may be a couple with GoPros and the like.

Think Nick has got a cam as well, but don't know what it is....

I can't recommend the virb enough for a bike can. Marginally lower quality than a gopro black edition ( and I mean marginal!) But far superior in terms of on bike features. Especially if you use an egde 510 or 810.

You might also want to take a look at the drift HD - it is a similar form factor to the virb, but gas a unique 5 mjn record buffer. Basically you can set it to buffer record continually, and at the press of a button it immediately saves the last 5 minutes. Very good for capturing awesome riding, or dangerous drivers.

Kris thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I won't be out for a few weeks now but I will have a look at these.

I'm going to the forest tomorrow, I'll bring my GoPro you can borrow if you want.

You can get some really tiny ones quite cheap, prob good enough if all you want is evidence of idiocy and a numberplate. Like this from Amazon.

I have a fly6 and it works well as a rear camera and doubles up as a reasonable rear light as well.

Most importantly you can read number plates, and picks up sound too.

Early days but impressed so far and reasonable price.

Out of interest andrew, it would be good for you to post a link to some footage, also how long does the battery last?

Hi Andy,

You can upload as an attachment by using the Upload attachment tab below the post that you will be creating (you'll see it next to the Options tab), or if it is on YouTube, you can use the youtube button above the post, and embedding the youtube id between the youtube opening and closing brackets.
