I will be starting this at 7 o'clock from the Anderton boat lift and heading clockwise. I anticipate averaging 10 mph which would mean around ten hours in total riding, and with two hours put aside for dinner, breaks and punctures it 'should' see a return to Anderton at 7, this will allow for a two hour contingency window to take the ride upto dusk at 9 if needed. It would be great to have some company but please nobody feel obliged as it is going to be a big day out. If you are up for it then obvs you'd need some food, drink and an inner tube or several. I'll be running a sweep which is open to all where you have to guess the amount of times I (or we) will puncture... winner gets an inner tube! If any intrepid brave souls wants to put themselves forward for this, or even down as a maybe, then that will give me an idea as to whether or not to charge the iPod the night before. My timings are a 'guesstimate' and any advice or opinions would be greatly received. Thanks

Put me down as a maybe. Chances are that I will start from Middlewich and meet you at Anderton at 7am

I'm up for it, though Kev probably not. See you at the boat lift. Might dip out of the full 100 miles though, we've a party to go to that night!

Yes, I'm planning on coming.

Do you want to borrow my tubeless wheels to save punctures? Is your bike 10 speed?

I'll be good for the tyres thanks matt - already have bought my innertubes.

so far we got:
Eleanor
Matt Hornby
Titch
Tim R
Dave Fearon
Paul H as a maybe

which to me is quite a fast group so could do with a few slower people 😆

Looks like the weather is shaping up nicely for Saturday. I plan to leave Middlewich around 6am and meet everyone at the Boat lift at 7am.

I feel tired just thinking about getting up at that time 🙂

Now I need to go and find my bell to ward off walkers and dogs.

I'm on the start sheet for the M&DTTA 50mile TT so won't be able to make it. This is the club 50mile TT championships too, and there are just 4 of us riding, so I'll be the one that the other 3 beat to share out the medals!

Have a good ride - I think it's quite a challenge to do it all in a day. Just to cheer you up, I rode about 15 miles of it around 20 years ago as a support rider accompanying various runners from Vale Royal AC who set a record for a relay run of around 10 hours. So that will give you something to aim for!

Hmmm 10 hours sounds Ok as long as Andy lets us stop at the odd coffee shop/ tea shop/pub...I'm hoping we can take it nice and steady! At least for once there will be no hills. Andy see you at the boat life at 7. Do you have a mobile no for emergencies?

10 hours riding and 6 hours for punctures you should just make it back before lighting up time. 😆
Seriously though, have a great time as I'm sure it will be an experience you'll never forget ...... oops there I go again with the sarcasm! 😳

Andy - thanks for suggesting this ride. It was a great day with both good company and weather (and a near swim in the canal!).

Interesting to see parts of Manchester from the canal along with drunk lads egging us on 🙂

And on the puncture front, well those people with no faith will have to wait for Eleanor's blog to find out the results on that front.

the perfect 'club ride' to me is a combination of three things, The location, the people and the weather. This ride scored tens across the board on each. I did have doubts that it may be a bit of a boring ride due to it's 'towpath only' nature but we covered every thing from the 'city centre' to 'where the hell are we now'. In retrospect, my only regret is not hammering it with pictures because the scenery from rolling hills to city architecture was pretty amazing. Thanks to all who came....and thanks to the 'God of Punctures' who must have only being working part-time that day (or may be he saw my 5 innertubes, 18 skab patches and track pump and thought he just wouldn't bother)

What a fantastic day! Blog on https://www.weavervalleycc.org.uk/blog-2/
Here's a photo for those who don't have time for the blog.
Best day out on a bike for ages - thanks Andy and everyone else!
And Dave - 100 miles, 6 riders, 2 punctures. Not bad eh, does this mean you'll come with us next time?![attachment=0:n071l8vh]cheshire ring 004.jpg[/attachment:n071l8vh]
