A perfect hot day and 13 of us set off to the Lock Cafe at Whitchurch. Nine of us got there. We worked out that excluding me and Jed (we’re the relative youngsters) the average age was 64. Amazing. The normal quality of banter was enhanced by Richard Heywood’s return to the fold. Richard, removing hair is depilating not dilapidating, I know because I’ve just looked it up in the dictionary. And you’re right, those nuns are scary. On the way back Jed undermined the normal work ethic of a WVCC clubrun by suggesting not only a second stop at Marbury for a cold beer (see above); but also a third stop for an ice cream at the Venetian cafe – I was the only one to agree to this last stop as the others clearly felt, with some justification, that if they stopped once more they wouldn’t be able to get going again. A hot day, a brisk ride, and Cheshire (and Shropshire, which we rode through too) looked truly beautiful. Once again, commiserations to you lot in offices. I’ll be joining you soon, so I intend to make the most of my last few weeks of freedom! …posted by Eleanor.
When I’m 64…When I get older, losing my hair, will I still be riding my bike as fast as these fellas?

I saw you all climbing Galantry Bank, led by Dave Astles, as I returned from a customer in Wrexham. It looked very warm from my air conditioned car, but I was just a bit jealous.
