Well at least some of us managed to get some miles in, despite the covering of snow and post-club-dinner-hangovers! Kev and I had a great ride on our mountain bikes up past Vale Royal Abbey, along the Whitegate Way (the dinky bits of singletrack along the side of the main path) then through the forest to the cafe – where whom did we meet but Jed and Derek, with five wheels between them. They announced they were the entirety of the club run and said that the roads were fine, no ice at all (it had thawed by then I think). On the way back we saw 1. Kevin, his son Jack and John Conboy then 2. Ross then 3. Nick – so WVCC was well represented on mountain bikes if not on road bikes! Maybe we should have a default arrangement that if it’s snowy or icy, those of us who have knobbly tyres should meet and do an MTB club run instead?
