Reading Time: 2 minutes

Thanks to Kevin and Claire for reports on today’s rides…it’s interesting to note the different weather conditions on each ride, both on the same day. The pics below are views to illustrate Kevin’s ride.

From Kevin…
With the promise of glorious views, sunshine, and the first climb of the day after 3 miles, five of us set off from the Derwen Centre for a ride around the Tanat Valley and Lake Vyrnwy, Paul, Craig (surprisingly fresh from his exploits in the 4up), Gareth, Dave S, and Kevin C. It was to be a ride of around 75miles, the majority of which was completed in rain/drizzle and with capes on, but the air temp was warm, and when the sun actually managed to break through it was very warm.
The Puncture Gods were not smiling on us again They obviously have a problem with those of us who believe Race Pro tyres are the best, but the delay was only short and we were soon back on the road.
A large portion of the ride was on the Oswestry Paragon Hilly 17 TT course, and with in excess of over 1500 feet of climbing, and descending, there were a few tricky moments for us all.
The last major climb of the day the day at the head of the Tanat valley, gave Dave S the opportunity to test himself before he leaves these shores to tackle the Etape, and we wish him well for that. The descent, and numerous cattle grids providing added spice, and ride along the Lake side road to the cafe stop was brisk.
An excellent ride, around roads not normally tackled on a Sunday, and thanks to Paul for keeping us going in the right direction, again!!

And now from Claire..
Another beautiful, sunny day was enjoyed by 17/18 club riders who went as one group to Two Mills. My presence ensured that the pace was fairly relaxed, and Elaine provided some female company! Any hangovers from the night before were soon dispersed with the morning mist, and Eureka Cafe was packed with riders enjoying the sunshine who had come from Manchester and Macclesfield, as well as a big contingent of Seamons Club members from Altrincham. Lets hope that the rest of the summer is full of golden days like this!
