A horrible wet night: because of the conditions and poor light the organisers thankfully limited us to 4 laps. Craig, Andy Poole, Richard M and Dave rode in the youngsters’ race, with Graham, Kevan and me in the over 50s, whilst Nick and Chas marshalled, Ann and Helen Gregory, Jed and Dave Astles supported and Martin W was one of the organisers, so WVCC were v. well represented. Sorry if I’ve missed anyone!
The race was hard, mainly because of the rain, the poor surface, large puddles, poor light and quite a few cars out on the course, so everyone was a bit twitchy and nervy. In our ride Graham came 4th and Kevan 5th and I finished in the bunch – not sure about the other race, I know Andy P did well, I think in the first three.
As it happens no-one was v. interested in the results, because of a nasty crash at the end of our race when one rider decided to take a wide route to the finish via the grass verge, causing a pile up, and crashing into spectators. Andy Poole and Richard Munro, having safely finished their race, had waited to watch ours finish: and both got caught in the melee, with Richard nursing sore ribs and Andy Poole ending up in Leighton A and E with a fractured rib – I understand he’s back home in bed now, nursing his injuries. I gather Andy’s bike also got caught in the cross-fire and was damaged. I’m not sure about the other riders.
Best wishes and commiserations to Andy and Richard, I hope they’re not feeling too sore for too long.

Just when I was thinking of giving it a go again. Sounds painful!! Best wishes to all. I’m sure you won’t be out of action for too long.
Best wishes to you Andy, hope you’re back up and riding soon.
Nice hilly clubrun today, not quite as far as Longnor but a good new cafe with excellent cake and scones. Legs were a bit stiff after yesterday’s exploits at Lee Quarry – see the bogblog link from here.
Hope the Tour of the Abberleys is going well Alan and look forward to discussing the new religion when I see you next!
