A great turnout of 13 riders and a couple of new faces despite the freezing weather.
This is the rambling route which Matthew recorded with his GPS http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Summertrees-and-Delamere. We headed off to Moulton then over the Weaver to the Whitegate way and some lanes and tracks to Little Budworth.
More tracks through the woods near Oulton Park then to Cotebrook. Up the lanes to the fast bridlepath decent at Tirley Garth then the gruelling climb of the Sandstone trail to Summertrees and lunch.
4 of us continued on through Primrose wood for some more challenging singletrack including Urchin’s Kithen (a first for me – led by Matthew) and then on to Delamere Forest (the view above is from Pale Heights – one I prepared earlier) and back to Northwich along the Whitegate way for Alan and I; the lanes for Matthew and Derek to Weaverham.
Hope you all enjoyed it and discovered some new tracks. See you 17 Jan at Delamere.
thought that was a great start for the 2009 calender and was good to see a nice turn out. Tirley Garth ‘sprint’ was a highlight, however checking out the gps route you did after I split at Summertrees, it looked like it could have been rivalled! Definately should have thrashed out a better deal with the misses over ‘time allocation’. Thaks again Nick – great ride
Thanks for the feedback Andy, glad you liked it. Positive feedback from some others too…so don’t be shy the rest of you, tell us all what you think on this blog, that’s what it’s for.
Yeah, I really enjoyed the day out too. I like that side of the forest, it’s not quite so busy and though there are the tracks seem less in number, they last longer.
