A wonderful ride – lots made it to Macclesfield and then nine of us made it to the cafe – Graham was the run leader, then Lou, Ewart (who said he had swine flu and I wasn’t sure whether to believe him), Kevin, Kevan and I (all with sore legs after yesterday’s mountain biking), Gareth, Audax Derek and Craig. We were led by Graham on a great route through Pott Shrigley, up three significant climbs: up past the brickworks, down to Kettleshulme, up past Windgather Rocks and over to the car park below Shining Tor, down to the Goyt Reservoir, up to Derbyshire Gate, up again to the Cat and Fiddle, and onto Peak View Tea Rooms for a very welcome stop. The weather held and we somehow managed to avoid any rain, despite occasional black brooding clouds appearing from nowhere. Back home via Macc Forest and Gawsworth, with Gareth and Kevan taking it in turns to set a brisk 20mph+ pace which meant the rest of us were singled out and conversation-less. I did 68 miles at an average speed of 16.4 mph, not bad considering the hills. Thanks to Graham for a great ride.
