Wednesday 22nd April to Nantwich

Wednesday 22nd April to Nantwich

Eleanor writes:Another beautiful day and 17 riders out, including a welcome return for Debbie, and a new rider Paul, who Claire apparently picked up on the way to Hashmere (the hussy). An uneventful ride out to Nantwich via Bunbury at a steady speed to keep everyone together. Nice lunch in the Marina cafe where we […]

Sunday 19th April to Garth – and a message from Malcolm about a stolen bike…

Eleanor writes:Thirty or so riders met at Hartford and split into three groups – a long ride to Garth, an intermediate group on a roundabout route to the ice cream farm and a beginners’ group straight to the ice cream farm. A large group elected to ride to Garth, with Ewart leading. And as all […]

Delamere Sat 18 April

Delamere Sat 18 April

Meet at the Station cafe as usual at 10am. All abilities welcome. We may split into two groups, technical and less so. Either way, you won’t get left to fend for yourself in the dark wood. If you don’t think the forest is challenging enough, then we’ll show you different! There is much more to go […]

Wednesday 8th April to Holt

Wednesday 8th April to Holt

Posted by Eleanor:Despite mixed forecasts 8 of us (Ged, Chris L, Cliff, Peter, Garry B, Dave D, Malcolm and me) enjoyed beautiful spring weather for a fairly swift ride to Holt – into a nasty headwind there and helped by a tailwind on the way back. I can’t remember which way we took as I […]

Coed y Brenin 4 April

Coed y Brenin 4 April

A smaller than usual group of three headed for North Wales courtesy of Andy’s van. We hit the Beast trail which is 37km of mainly singletrack with some rocky technical sections but more flowing than it used to be. It takes in 3500ft of climbing (that’s equivalent to riding up Snowdon), but that didn’t seem […]

Sunday 5th April to Llandegla

Sunday 5th April to Llandegla

Posted by Eleanor:The two groups (approx 15 riders) rode together (more or less) to Holt, where Ewart took over, to lead 6 of us (Kevan, Kevin, John Conboy, John Crystal, Howie and me) on the longer ride to Llandegla – he promised us a flat route there. Ha ha. As someone said, “never trust a […]

Sunday 29th March 2009, Rainow

Well done Eleanor, getting the blog going again. Here is something from the other blogger! The Sunday run to Rainow began very very cold and we were fortunate that the sun was out all day which brought the temperature up to just normal cold! The turnout was a bit down at 17 souls but there were […]

Wednesday 25th March to Two Mills

Wednesday 25th March to Two Mills

A very windy ride. We’d intended to go to the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum but it was closed, so we ended up at Two Mills. Jed (on two wheels for once) and Ian led us out most of the way into a strong headwind – they kept a good steady pace. This was not a […]

Sunday March 22nd to Dagfields and Audlem

I joined the long run, led by Ian, heading for Dagfields – whilst Alan Silver led the shorter run to Audlem – the two groups stayed together for quite a few miles. My strategy as usual was to suggest Kevan should volunteer for the front of the group in the hope that he’d set a […]

This blog lives again!

This blog lives again!

Message from Eleanor: Richard’s given me the password so I’m attempting to revitalise this blog, which is primarily for reports on Sunday runs and “Wednesday Wrinkly” runs – and I suppose anything else of a roadie nature – as opposed to Nick’s Bogblog which is for all things off road. Pls. help me make this […]

Delamere 21 March

Delamere 21 March

Here’s Ross showing us how to ride one of the narrow “bridges” he found on some singletrack, which was completely new to the rest of us, in Delamere Forest. Seven of us enjoyed the sunshine (until it disappeared) with the driest conditions so far this year. Lunch at the cafe, followed by a climb of […]

7 March Tegg’s Nose for 3 Shires Bridge

Seven of us set out from Tegg’s Nose country park a few miles E of Macclesfield for a challenging ride along tracks and back roads to Three Shire Heads where Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet. The bridge here crosses our very own River Dane just a mile or two from its source. Here we are […]

EMILY WINS AT TAMESIDE!!!!!... both went to the Tameside crit event tonight... 7 ladies entered mixture of cat 2-4. Emily did her fair share on the front. Jumped off a couple of times but the group did pull back. Emily won the prime at lap 10. Group stayed together until 2 laps when Emily jumped and stayed away to take the win!! As for me I am awful at cornering as expected... lost everyone after every corner then managed to get back on. Finished a miserable 4th but great experience and at least I now know what to work on over winter.... 🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️ Emily Jane Martin ... ’Expand’’Hide’

Hi, I am interested in coming to cycle with you, is there a beginners group or one that isn’t quite as fast to gauge what ability I am at and if I am quick enough at all. I can do about 30 miles comfortably but would like to join a club to improve my pace. ... ’Expand’’Hide’

I know what an Altruistic bunch some of you are, and I have benefited from this. As my kit rail will testify. However I’m looking for cold hard cash for the following items.

- Michelin pro 4 service course.
700 x 25
Too wide for my Dave Lloyd, lots of wear left.
£25 the pair.

- Campagnolo Khamsin front wheel, smooth and true. (No QR skewer). Wear holes still visible.
£20
