Well how hard can a ride to Two Mills be, I thought to myself as 11 of us set off from Hartford? I should’ve known as soon as Alan Kemp decided to take the lead and direct us over towards his favourite training grounds. Down to the ice cream farm and already we were down to 10, some more hills later it was 9. Kevin Underhill then had a mechanical on the way over to Summertrees so then we were 8 before 3 others decided the relentless pace and hills were enough after their ride the previous day (which Alan and Ewart were on too). So the remaining 5 of us, including Ewart, Dane and Max pushed on up to the Kingsley mast before finally heading over to Two Mills. If I’d known it was going to be so tough I would’ve brought more provisions or eaten more for breakfast but as it was I could’ve nearly eaten the escapee cow we passed at the side of the road! After collecting a recovered Vince from Two Mills a “gentler” pace was taken back to Northwich to finish off what was for me an 88 mile ride. Thanks to Alan for leading a great ride, showing me more Cheshire roads I never knew existed and pushing us to work that bit harder than we normally would. I feel like I’ve been to Llanberis early this year!

Thanks for that Gareth
