Breeze Bike Rides in Cheshire West and Chester
Fingers crossed that the weather smiles on us for this ride, being as the theme is picnics!
It’s a chance to bring out the basket bike, dust off the panniers or root out the rucksack and fill them full of goodies for a picnic overlooking the beautiful Pickmere Lake.
It’s a short ride of nine miles in total (so a very achievable four-and-a-half miles each way).
It is on roads, but between Marbury Park and Pickmere Lake they’re not busy and there’s some lovely views and leafy lanes. I wouldn’t recommend it for children younger than around 10 though – they need a certain amount of confidence and experience on the roads.
I also have a contingency plan if it rains… we’ll go to the pub instead! The Red Lion, in Pickmere, will make a tasty alternative and they welcome children too.
This ride is suitable for all bikes. It is recommended that riders bring an inner tube and puncture repair kit just in case.
The ride roughly takes an hour and a half cycling time but please allow more time for lunch too and just in case the pace is slower than anticipated or we have a puncture.
Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome, don’t worry if you don’t know anyone, we’re a friendly bunch.
Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it’s good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too.
Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one don’t to worry as you can still take part.
