Now the annual ride downhill is fast approaching and it’s date is on the calendar, it’s the last championship to be decided before the coveted trophy is awarded at the club dinner.

Jamie Wilson who is the current holder has a injury scare that may keep him from defending his title.

Just to let you all know that the UCI technical commission has met and issued the following guidelines for competing in this sort of event [these will be strictly applied and observers will be stationed along the course to ensure they are followed]

1 all cranks are to be secured by a toe strap [not a cable tie] or chains are to be removed.

2 all efforts must be made whilst in the saddle [no descending like Peter Sagan and sitting on the top tube]

3 no bunny hopping forward is allowed.

4 no weaving from side to side trying to get uphill is allowed.

These rules will make it a fair fight for all and maybe this year, the event will be contested for people of the fuller figure…….!
