Reading Time: < 1 minute

The long run to Dagfields was beset by a number of “unplanned incidents” which added spice to and otherwise ordinary Sunday run. The group of 18 set off in glorious weather which managed to last all day which made a pleasant change as we are so often caught in showers at some point in the day.
Unplanned incident 1. Puncture at the bottom of Cinder Hill in Whitegate Village. The clever ones took the opportunity to cruise slowly up to the top of the hill thereby avoiding the first “rush of blood” typical of all runs which go out this way.
Unplanned incident 2. The whole group was stopped by a tractor reversing into a field and upon setting off Garry Brown became Garry Down when he caught Chris Latters wheel at about 5 mph whilst setting off. Not the sort of thing you would expect from an experienced four man time trial teamster! He was a bit bruised but picked himself up and rode on. Well done Garry.
Unplanned incident 3. Chris Lamb tried to cut inside “man mountain” Ewart Howkins, not a good idea. Remarkably Chris managed to bring Ewart down along with himself and the two ended up chewing hawthorn hedge and nettles on the ground. Apart from grazed nuckles and a few puncture wounds they both seemed to be OK and once the siamese bike had been seperatd they rode on seemingly unaffected.

All this before we had even reached the cafe. Of course there were the usual close encounters with lorrys, cars and tractors along the way as well.

Lunch was taken al fresco and then we returned via Haslingdon and Middlewich back home.

A Good ride with just a few casualties all walking at the end of the day, result!

Thanks to Ian for leading (most) of the route.

Richard
