Alan lost count of the amount of riders pitching up at the Legion this morning.

It is January, and there are many (me included) who have started a little late with getting the winter miles in. With Llanberis looming, and without the ominous grey clouds of the 1st 3 weeks of Jan, a goodly number turned out.

The long run disappeared to The Mills, and the short run headed out along the usual route to Chester. It was a brisk pace set, and making the most of the morning sunshine, it was great to be out. We took a familiar route out through Waverton and back into Chester, to the Riverside Cafe.

At the cafe, well, things got a bit surreal. Long haired member Jamie really started to annoy Caroline, who insisted that she sort out his untidy locks by platting them for him (proof below).

Cycling club or apprentice barbers...?

We set off around the race course and to the side of the river, where Jamie, clearly unbalanced by the off-centre weight of his new braid, proceeded to over balance and fall off. It’s no coincidence, I tell you…

We then tripped back to the cycle way and back to Mickle Trafford. Back through the forest, the only thing left was the Hatchmere sprint. A group picked up the pace, until a cheeky and speedy Jonty took up a long one. I pursued, but we both ran out of gas as Jamie cheekily sought to show us all that he could stay on two wheels, platted or not, and took the sign.

A fine day out on the clearest and sunniest day of 2014 thus far. A few more miles in the bank for Llanberis… πŸ™‚
