Reading Time: < 1 minute

A very windy night produced some surprisingly good times on Wednesday.  Regulars will know that a strong wind directly behind on Penny’s Lane is a good sign as you get a 2 mile kick start followed by mostly cross winds, with very little head wind.  We had a few first time riders and all went away happy apart from Caroline Fearon who fell victim to one of the many craters on Penny’s Lane, resulting in a broken spoke in the front wheel and a retirement.  Emily showed great form with an all time PB (open events as well) of 25:38.  Yours truly had a lucky win on the night with a frustrating 24:00!  A nice round 25mph average is good for my OCD but 23:59 would have sounded better.

The Guardian Cup and Scratch competitions start next week so don’t miss out on a good night as it’s warming up next week.  If you didn’t ride this week and have no previous time from last seasons’ 10’s then your first ride will set your handicap and your subsequent best 5 performances throughout the series count towards your points tally.  25 points for best on handicap and best on actual time so even if you come 10th you still get 16 points.  Turn up regularly and you’ll climb the table fast.

See you next week.
