Here’s Claire’s account of her successful London to Paris ride – well done girl!

I made it to Paris!! It turned out to be quite an adventure! You can read the whole story on my just-giving page http://www.justgiving.com/claireobrien2. I will send you some piccies later today! I had plenty of time as I pedalled the miles, to think of the Weaver Valley Wrinklies and all the good times! I am so looking forward to getting back to our Wednesday runs in September! By the time I got to Paris, I had dropped a dress size – in 4 days! Unfortunately, by the time you next see me, I will probably have put it all on again! It was a great feeling riding into Paris with 605 other cyclists, and having a swig from a bottle of Champagne under the Eiffel Tower with my family! I can say that ‘I was there’ when Bradley Wiggins won 4th in the GC, and when Mark Cavendish powered his way to a 6th sprint win on the Champs-Elysees! After Paris, we went for a week to Deauville where I rode along the promenade on Pashley’s with the kids! Ok, they were rusty ole push-bikes, but never let the truth get in the way of a good story! Although the bikes were all stuck in one gear, the family rode the hilly 40k to Honfleur and back! I was very proud of 8 year old Richard who has never ridden on a road before! On Sunday, I am at the velodrome to try to get my accreditation! I have never tried riding behind a derny before, so that should be fun!
